Lets begin!
1. Open a new image 500 x 500. Floodfill with white.
Copy and paste the frame I supplied as a new layer.
Colourise to match your tube.
2. Using your magic wand click inside the frame.
Copy and paste a paper/texture of choice as a new layer.
Selections – Invert. Hit the delete key on your keyboard.
Selections – Select None.
I changed the blend mode of my paper layer to screen, but this is entirely up to you.
3. Add your screws. I used some from Dozi’s website.
Hide your bottom layer and merge visible the other layers.
I added a gradient glow at this stage, but you could add a drop shadow.
4. Using your rectangular selection tool, select the area around your white centre.
Layers – New Raster Layer. Floodfill with a colour from your tube.
Keep selected!
Using a different paper/texture copy and paste as a new layer.
Selections – Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard.
Selections – Select None.
Once again I changed the blend mode to screen but this is entirely your preference.
Move both layers under your frame layer.
5. Add the accents by Caro to the center of the frame. I used the freehand selection tool to choose the ones I wanted to use.
Change the blend mode to Luminance. I reduced the opacity to 60.
Add any other embellishments you like to the frame. I changed the blend mode to luminance so it would match the colours.
6. With your bottom layer active, Layers – New Raster Layer. Floodfill with a colour from your tube.
Layers – New Mask Layer – From Image.
Look for my mask [mask015_ap] Source Luminance checked, Invert Mask Data checked.
Merge group. I reduced the opacity to 50.
7. Add your tube. Resize if needed and give it a drop shadow. [my settings are below].
At this stage I hid my background layer, and merged visible the other layers. I then resized by 95%.
8. Add your name and the artist copyrights and you’re done!
